Cargo transport in Yerevan and international shipping
A destination alone is not enough for a freight quotation. The provider needs a shipment profile, the complete route and the handling scope. One service may collect in Yerevan and deliver to the recipient; another may exclude packing, loaders, storage, customs-related support or delivery beyond the terminal. Turn.am lists independent providers but does not carry cargo or set their rates.
Describe the shipment
Provide the cargo type, package count, actual weight, dimensions, collection point and precise destination. Add photographs and identify personal belongings, furniture, equipment, commercial stock, food, liquids or fragile goods. Oversized, hazardous, high-value, perishable and temperature-controlled shipments require specific confirmation. Ask about relevant experience, restrictions and documents.
Map the whole route
Freight may travel by road, air, rail, sea or combined transport. Establish where the provider’s responsibility begins and ends, whether transfers or storage are involved, and whether delivery ends at a terminal or the recipient’s address. Consolidated freight and dedicated capacity have different timing and handling. Compare the full chain rather than a transport label.
Collection and packing
Describe the floor, lift, access and loading window at collection, plus destination access if inside delivery is required. Confirm who supplies packing materials, labels packages, dismantles furniture, records the item count and secures the load. Fragile cargo may need internal cushioning, a suitable outer container and condition photographs before sealing.
Documents and customs-related work
Requirements vary with the goods, purpose, countries and transport method. Ask whether the provider only carries freight or also reviews documents and coordinates customs-related work. If a broker or destination partner is involved, identify their scope and charges. Record which documents and tasks belong to the customer and which belong to the provider.
Compare complete quotations
Pricing may use actual weight, volumetric weight, occupied capacity, route and address conditions. Loading, packing, storage, insurance, paperwork and final delivery may be separate. Send the same brief to each provider and request the inclusions, exclusions, currency, quotation validity and circumstances that may change the total.
Handover and liability
Ask what confirms receipt, how package count and condition are recorded, whether tracking is available and what process applies to delay, loss or damage. Review insurance limits and exclusions where offered. The recipient should inspect visible packaging and compare the count before acknowledging delivery when the procedure allows it. Keep photographs, quotations, payment evidence and freight records.
